EUDR Cattle Traceability and Compliance Data

Connect cattle, establishments, movements, suppliers, abattoirs, processing batches and legality evidence for EUDR due diligence.

UCVreg helps cattle operators, beef processors, leather manufacturers, importers and retailers structure the data required to demonstrate deforestation-free cattle supply chains.

Regulatory Framework

The EU regulatory landscape for Cattle

Cattle Scope and Application Dates

The EU Deforestation Regulation covers cattle commodities and specified derived products listed under EUDR Annex I, including live bovine animals, fresh, chilled and frozen beef, edible offal, and raw bovine hides.

Under the EUDR, relevant cattle products must be deforestation-free (animals raised without causing deforestation or forest degradation after 31 December 2020), produced legally, and covered by a Due Diligence Statement.

Most EUDR obligations apply from 30 December 2026 for large and medium enterprises, and 30 June 2027 for micro and small operators.

Lifecycle Establishment Geolocation and Movement Records

Unlike plant crops, cattle supply chains require geolocation coordinates for every establishment where animals were kept during their lifetime:

Tanned and finished leather (CN 4104, 4107) was delisted from EUDR scope in recent legislative revisions, but raw bovine hides and fresh/frozen beef cuts remain strictly regulated.

  • ✓GPS polygon coordinates for birth farms, breeding pastures, rearing ranches and feedlots (Bos taurus, Bos indicus)
  • ✓Official animal identification numbers (ear tags) and veterinary health certificates
  • ✓Animal transit permits (e.g. Brazil Animal Transit Guide - GTA) tracking movement between ranches
  • ✓Slaughterhouse intake logs and batch deboning records
  • ✓Verification of producer country land tenure, indigenous reserve boundaries, and labor codes

EUDR Geolocation & Due Diligence Pipeline

End-to-end verified workflow from supplier ingestion to EU market clearance

4-Step Verification
STEP 01

Plot Geolocation

GPS & Polygons

Ingest polygon coordinates for farm parcels (>4 ha) and point coordinates (<4 ha) across supply cooperatives.

STEP 02

Deforestation Check

Copernicus Satellite

Automated spatial overlay against 31 Dec 2020 forest baselines, proving zero deforestation and statutory legality.

STEP 03

DDS Statement

TRACES-NT Registry

Submit verified Due Diligence Statements to the EU TRACES-NT platform and generate immutable reference numbers.

STEP 04

Customs Clearance

Market Release

Transmit verifiable DDS reference codes downstream to customs authorities, port logistics, and EU buyers.

Operational Readiness

Where Cattle compliance data breaks and how UCVreg supports readiness

Track multi-tier indirect cattle supply chains

The Challenge

Cattle typically move through 2 to 4 different ranches (calving, backgrounding, fattening) before reaching slaughterhouses, obscuring origin ranches.

How UCVreg Helps

Link animal transit guides (GTA) and movement records to trace cattle back to every lifetime establishment and pasture polygon.

Verify zero deforestation across all lifecycle pastures

The Challenge

Every pasture polygon where an animal grazed must be proven free of post-2020 deforestation using satellite overlay analysis.

How UCVreg Helps

Automate batch spatial analysis across all historic establishment polygons against Copernicus forest cover baselines.

Screen against indigenous lands and embargoed areas

The Challenge

Cattle ranches must not overlap with legally protected indigenous territories, conservation units or IBAMA environmental embargoes.

How UCVreg Helps

Perform automated spatial intersection checks against official national protected area and environmental embargo registries.

Generate verified TRACES-NT DDS reference records

The Challenge

Meatpacking export consignments require compiling comprehensive establishment polygon datasets into official TRACES-NT filings.

How UCVreg Helps

Automate Due Diligence Statement generation with built-in polygon validation and direct TRACES-NT API integration.

Sector questions

What information and evidence should teams prepare?

Connect cattle, establishments, movements, suppliers, abattoirs, processing batches and legality evidence for EUDR due diligence. General operators must complete EUDR due diligence from the cited effective date. (30 December 2026). Frozen edible bovine tongues under ex 0206 21 00 are added to Annex I from the cited date, subject to scrutiny. (30 December 2027). Certain bovine hide and leather items are modelled as delisted from Annex I. The entry-into-force date is not locked in this registry. (Effective date pending).

Which products and organisational roles should teams check for scope?

Covers live cattle, fresh/frozen beef cuts, offal, raw bovine hides, tanned leather and crust leather. Coverage must be checked against the applicable CN/HS code. Duties then depend on the product, market activity, organisation size and whether the organisation acts as an operator, trader or downstream participant.

How should the relevant data and evidence be managed?

Link animal transit guides (GTA) and movement records to trace cattle back to every lifetime establishment and pasture polygon.

Where should teams begin?

Build a controlled foundation for pasture polygons, animal transit permits, satellite deforestation checks and TRACES-NT DDS filings.
